Looking for a fun, easy way to make Easter morning extra magical this year?
This Indoor Easter Treasure Hunt is the perfect way to add excitement without needing sunshine, outdoor space, or loads of prep. Whether you’ve got toddlers, primary schoolers, or tricky-to-impress older kids, I’ve created three different versions so everyone can join in the fun.
And yes — it’s completely free to print. 🐰✨
Why We Love an Indoor Easter Hunt
Let’s be honest… Easter weather in the UK is unpredictable at best.
Some years it’s sunshine and daffodils.
Other years it’s rain, wind, and everyone staying in pyjamas until lunch. My kids love a treasure hunt and Easter is the perfect excuse for one.
-
No worrying about the forecast
-
No muddy shoes through the house
-
No melting chocolate
-
No last-minute panic
It’s simple, cosy, and just as exciting.
Last year I wanted something that felt a little more special than just hiding eggs around the house — so I created rhyming clue cards. The kids absolutely loved following each step and “solving” their way to the final treasure.
So this year, I’ve made it even better.
What’s Included in the Free Printable
You’ll get three different versions of the Indoor Easter Treasure Hunt:
🐣 1. Classic Rhyming Clues (Younger Children)
Simple, fun rhymes with clear hiding spots like:
-
Bed
-
Sofa
-
Bookshelf
-
Bathroom
-
Shoe rack
Perfect for younger children who love the excitement but don’t want clues that are too tricky.
🐰 2. Challenging Riddle Version (Older Children)
A step up in difficulty, with slightly more thoughtful riddles that require a bit of problem-solving. This will be the one I am trying this year as my kids are now that little bit older.
Ideal for:
-
Older primary school children
-
Confident readers
-
Siblings who want more of a challenge
🧠 3. Logic Challenge Version
This one is for the thinkers.
The clues use reasoning rather than obvious hints, encouraging children to work things out logically instead of spotting obvious keywords.
It’s brilliant for:
-
Kids who love puzzles
-
Siblings working as a team
-
Making the hunt last a little longer
How to Set It Up (Takes 10 Minutes)
- Print the version you’d like to use.
- Cut out the clue cards.
- Hide each clue in the matching location from the previous question. (I usually write on the card in pencil somewhere where that clue needs to be hidden)
- Hide the Easter eggs or main prize at the final spot. (Or write the location of the final hiding space if you wanted to hide the eggs in another place)
- Hand out Clue 1… and let the excitement begin!
You can:
-
Use chocolate eggs
-
Add small toys
-
Hide a “Golden Egg” with a bigger prize
-
Or leave a crafting activity to keep kids busy
Make It Even More Special
If you want to elevate it slightly, you could:
-
Put clues in little envelopes
-
Roll them up like mini scrolls
-
Add bunny stickers to each one
-
Time the hunt and make it a challenge
Older children especially love feeling like it’s a proper “mission”.
Why This Works So Well
Structured hunts are actually far more exciting than random egg hiding.
The build-up.
The solving.
The anticipation.
It turns five minutes of chocolate collecting into a full family activity.
And honestly? It’s one of those traditions that feels small — but becomes something they remember.
