Sometimes we just need something easy to break up our day or to start conversations around the dinner table without the pressure of having to come up with something.

My kids really enjoy discussing hypothetical scenarios. Most kids went through a "Why" phase in their lives, my daughter went through a "What if...?" phase instead. "What if we all had spaghetti for legs?", "What if the moon was made from molten lava?", "What if sharks ruled the world?". Her questions and imagination appeared to be endless but all those questions usually led to interesting discussions from the viewpoint of a 5 year old.

She is a little older now and the questions have changed a bit, but she enjoys playing "Would you rather...?" scenarios with her older brother. So I have created a deck of "Would you rather...?" questions to help start those conversations around the dinner table when everyone is too tired to think of anything or when we need to lighten the mood a little at the end of a long day.

The good thing is, these are very portable, so great to take on car journeys and holidays too.

Whether you’re heading off on a family holiday, planning a weekend adventure, or just trying to keep the kids entertained without screens, this simple game is a total lifesaver.

I’ve put together a free printable set of 96 “Would You Rather” questions that are perfect for kids aged 7–10—full of silly choices, big imagination, and a few thoughtful moments too.

🎲 What is “Would You Rather”?

It’s a super simple game where you ask a question with two choices… and you have to pick one!

For example:
👉 Would you rather have a trampoline for a bed or a slide instead of stairs?

There are no right or wrong answers—just lots of laughs, surprises, and sometimes very strong opinions 😂

We always make sure to explain our reasoning too which leads to interesting discussions sometimes.

💛 Why kids love it (and parents do too!)

  • Gets kids talking and laughing together
  • Sparks creativity and imagination
  • Encourages decision-making and confidence
  • Works for all ages (even grown-ups get involved!)
  • Zero prep, zero mess 🙌

🖨️ How to Print Your Cards

For best results:

  • Print double-sided (flip on long edge)
  • Use thicker paper or card if you can. Depending on your printer, you should be able to print straight onto cardboard. I've used this slightly thicker card for a more durable card set.
  • Cut along the lines (a paper trimmer makes it super quick!)

📦 Make a Simple Card Box (Optional)

Want to keep your cards neat and travel-ready? I have created a template for a simple storage box that you can print and assemble to keep your cards all in one place. Or if you wanted something a little more durable, you can try this Card Case instead.

💡 Pro Tips (from experience 👀)

  • Use 200–250gsm card (regular paper is too flimsy)
  • Test print once before sharing

🛠️ Assembly Instructions

  1. Cut around the outer edges
  2. Fold along all lines
  3. Glue the side tab
  4. Fold bottom flaps in and secure
  5. Fill with cards and tuck the lid closed
