Holiday season is approaching and as a family, we decided to go on a road trip, taking the ferry to the mainland. The kids are excited, but realistically, I also know that it is a long trip and will soon turn from excitement to boredom. If, like us, you are planning a family road trip, having a few simple activities ready can make the journey much more fun for everyone.
To help keep little travellers entertained, I’ve created a free printable Road Trip Activity Pack packed with simple games children can play from the back seat.

A fun word search featuring travel-themed words. It’s a great quiet activity that helps build spelling and word recognition skills while children relax in the car.

Road Trip Scavenger Hunt
The scavenger hunt encourages children to look out the window and spot common things they might see on a journey, such as road signs, vehicles, animals or landmarks. Each item they spot can be ticked off as they go.
Road Sign Bingo
This pack also includes four different Road Sign Bingo cards so siblings or friends can play together.
Children simply keep an eye out for road signs during the journey and mark them off on their card when they spot one. The first person to get a line (or even a full card) wins!
It’s a great way to help children learn to recognise common road signs while making the journey more interactive.
